LOCAL MAN GETS ATTENTION

Aresident of Setagaya Ward has been the focus of neighborhood attention recently. Mr. Kenzo Nishimura, age 75, has earned the local nickname “Uncle Trash” because of his longtime hoarding activities.

Mr. Nishimura has been hoarding various objects for decades, but his stash has recently become so voluminous that it is noticeable to passersby. A neighbor, who prefers that we not use her name, is the source of our story. She knocked on Mr. Nishimura’s door to collect fees for NHK Television, and saw head-high piles of old newspapers crowding the entranceway of his home. When interviewed by our reporter, the neighbor said Mr. Nishimura was barely able to squeeze between the piles to come out and talk to her.
